What is Numerical Recipes™ Electronic?

Numerical Recipes Electronic is the Numerical Recipes book in electronic form. It provides unlimited on-line access to electronic pages with the look and feel of the Numerical Recipes Third Edition book - but better! The electronic edition is more colorful, has clickable hyperlinks, and is more frequently updated. Numerical Recipes Electronic is sold as a three-year subscription, including new and updated sections that are not in the printed book. Subscribers can view and print unlimited pages from the book. Two different styles of Flash® interface are supported for on-line access. With Adobe Reader® and the FileOpen® plug-in, downloading and off-line viewing are additionally supported.

Book, or Electronic, or both?

If you purchase the book and also subscribe to Numerical Recipes Electronic, a coupon in the book entitles you to convert your initial subscription to a lifetime* subscription at no additional cost.

What Kinds of Subscriptions Are There?

Individuals may purchase three-year subscriptions, convertable to lifetime* subscriptions by coupon in the book. One individual subscription allows the activation of an unlimited number of machines (for example, office, home, and laptop), as long as you use only one machine at a time. Individual subscribers may also wish to purchase the Numerical Recipes Code download, a separate product that includes a perpetual, single-user license for the code.

Groups, companies, and universities may purchase institutional subscriptions valid on any number of machines within a fixed IP address range, see further information. Institutional subscriptions also include access to Numerical Recipes Code and a license for its unlimited use on subscriber machines. (There is no separate institutional code product.)

System Requirements

For on-line access, Numerical Recipes Electronic works in all operating systems and with any web browser with Flash® installed (96% of all machines by one recent estimate). Adobe Acrobat® or Adobe Reader® and the FileOpen® plug-in are required for off-line access.

Where Are the Files?

If you are already a subscriber, or want to browse free sections as a guest, the portal is here. (You might want to bookmark one of the three bookreader interfaces after you decide which to use regularly.)
